Education Secretary Details Save Plan Student Loan Forgiveness

State-by-state breakdown published by the department.

President Biden’s administration released state-specific details on the forgiveness of $1.2 billion in student loans for nearly 153,000 borrowers through the SAVE Plan. The process has begun, and borrowers in all states and territories will receive notifications as the loan forgiveness occurs. The Department of Education will continue identifying eligible borrowers enrolled in SAVE for regular forgiveness.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said, “The state-by-state SAVE Plan debt forgiveness numbers we’re announcing today not only show that President Biden’s leadership is making a real impact on people’s lives in every state – they demonstrate that we won’t ever stop fighting to make higher education more affordable and accessible for more Americans.”

The SAVE plan applies to enrollees who “have been making at least 10 years of payments, and have originally taken out $12,000 or less for college.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Cardona to be led by the Lord as he heads the Education Department.
  • For COO Richard Cordray as he oversees the Office of Federal Student Aid.
